Address autocomplete: what it would do, and why it is off here

The feature is delivered by an optional module that is not installed on WindoorERP today. There is no Google Places API key setting in your Settings page to fill in, and typing an address into a contact will not offer suggestions — the fields are typed and saved exactly as written. Nothing you do on the contact form will turn it on.

• A Google Places API Key field in the general settings, holding the key that authorises the lookups.
• Address suggestions on the contact form as you type, which fill the address fields together when one is picked.
• A dependency on Google's Places service — which is billable by Google, per lookup, on a busy database.

A different and already-installed helper covers part of the same ground: when you type a company name on a new contact, WindoorERP can suggest the company and fill in its published details for you. It works on company identity rather than on street addresses, and it will not complete the site address of a private villa — but for contractors, consultants and suppliers it saves most of the typing.

For site addresses, the practical controls are the ones you already have: create each site as its own delivery address under the company that pays, name it in a way the crew will recognise, and let the survey confirm it before anybody drives there.

If address autocomplete would genuinely change how your team works, it is an administrator request rather than a setting: the module has to be installed and a Google Cloud project, Places API and API key set up and paid for. Ask through whoever manages your WindoorERP configuration, and say how many addresses a week you type — that number decides whether the billing is worth it.

You followed a Google Cloud guide and found no field to paste the key into — that is expected here; the setting only exists once the module is installed.

Suggestions appear when you type a company name but never for a street — those are two different features. Company lookup is installed; address autocomplete is not.

An address was saved wrong and nothing warned you — nothing validates addresses on this system. The survey step is where a site address gets confirmed.

• Buying a Google Places key before the module is installed — the key has nowhere to go and the billing starts anyway.
• Assuming the company-name suggestion is address autocomplete, then trusting an address nobody completed.
• Typing site addresses into the company's own address field instead of creating a delivery address per site.
