Guided journey

A survey, start to finish, from your phone

From the job list in the van to a signed, submitted survey the office already has — without opening the backend once.

15 steps about 28 min Beginner Site surveyor

This is the whole of a surveyor's day, in the order it actually happens. You need a phone browser and a login — no internal seat, no app store, and no backend.

Two things are worth knowing before you start. Your work is saved on the phone the moment you type it, so a basement with no signal costs you nothing. And the checks that decide whether the office sends the survey back all run while you are still on site, which is the only place they are cheap to fix.

By the end you will be able to

  • Plan a day from the work list and drive it in one tap Measure openings with a laser or by hand, with photos attached Report a locked gate or an unready site so the office can act on it Keep working with no signal and know your measurements are safe Get a customer signature that means something, or record why there is none Submit a survey the office can quote from immediately

  1. 12 Run the check before you leave the site Press Submit to office and the checks run first, listing everything at once: openings neither measured nor marked unready, not-ready items with no reason or no photo, anything that disagrees with the same opening on other floors. Every one of these costs a minute to fix while you are standing there and a return trip to fix afterwards. That is the entire point of running them here. 2 min
  2. 13 Get a signature that means something The sign-off screen shows the customer what they are agreeing to before the pen touches glass: how many openings were measured, the total area, and — the part that matters most — which ones were not measured and why. Record who signed and in what capacity, because whoever is willing to sign is often not the person authorised to. If nobody is available, say so and why. That is a normal outcome, and recording it is better than a scribble from whoever was nearest. 3 min
  3. 14 Submit, and let the office get on with it Submitting hands the survey over. On a pre-quote the salesperson gets it immediately with everything they need to price it; on a production survey it goes to a manager to approve, whatever the measurements came to. Once submitted it is no longer yours to edit — if you need to go back, ask, and a manager decides. 1 min
  4. 15 Finish the day, and see how it went Done for the day sends your managers a summary of what you completed, what is still open and anything you reported from site. How I am doing shows your own figures — the one worth watching is first-time-right, the share of your surveys approved without being sent back, because it is entirely in your hands and every point of it saves somebody a second trip. Visits blocked by a locked gate are counted separately and never held against you. 1 min
