Track individual serial number WIP valuation, material consumption, and direct labor

1 min read Updated 2026-08-28 WindoorERP 19.0

What this does

Calculates real-time Work-In-Progress (WIP) cost accumulation for each serialized frame, combining consumed extrusions, glass, and logged operator wages.

Before you start

  • Standard cost prices configured on raw materials and hourly labor rates defined on work centers.

Steps

Serial valuations list displaying unit material cost, labor cost, and total WIP value

Serial valuation form detailing exact material cost absorption and labor hour splits

Important

Serial valuation allows management to identify scrap overruns on complex curtain wall units before shipping to the client.

  1. 01
Open Production › Shop Floor › Serial Valuations.
  2. 02
Search by Serial Number, Manufacturing Order, or Sales Project.
  3. 03
Inspect the detailed cost breakdown comparing budgeted BOM material costs vs actual consumed quantities.
  4. 04
Review accumulated machine and operator labor hours absorbed into the unit's inventory asset value.

Common mistakes

  • Evaluating unit margins based solely on raw metal weight without factoring in CNC machining labor hours.
  • Failing to close out incomplete work orders, leaving WIP values uncapitalized.
