Scan barcodes for instant workpiece progression through assembly stages

1 min read Updated 2026-08-28 WindoorERP 19.0

What this does

Enables rapid assembly line throughput by scanning piece serial barcodes, instantly recording timestamped completions and moving units to the next station.

Before you start

  • Barcode scanners connected to station tablets and serialized piece labels printed.

Steps

Scan to advance input screen for fast barcode workpiece verification

Piece scans audit list recording operator IDs, timestamps, and station movements

Important

If an uncompleted prior step is detected, Scan to Advance will flag an error alert, preventing out-of-sequence assembly errors.

  1. 01
Open Production › Shop Floor › Scan to Advance on the barcode station terminal.
  2. 02
Aim the scanner at the unique QR/barcode affixed to the fabricated window sash or frame.
  3. 03
The system validates piece ID, confirms required prior operations are complete, and advances the unit.
  4. 04
View the real-time confirmation green badge and inspect logged scan records under Piece Scans.

Common mistakes

  • Scanning damaged or illegible barcodes without printing a replacement label immediately.
  • Re-scanning already advanced units multiple times.
