Guided journey
Ask for site surveys and technical work from the sales side
The recorded Survey and Technical Requests training for salespeople as a path: pin the site, schedule the pre-quote survey from the opportunity, brief the technical office, follow the survey, and carry the signed order through the production survey and the release.
This is the Survey and Technical Requests training recorded by the WindoorERP team from the salesperson's side, turned into a path you can follow with an opportunity open beside it. The full video sits at the top of this page; each stop below points at the article that explains that screen in depth.
The order is the order of a real job: locate the site, ask the technical office for the first visit, follow what comes back, ask for drawings when the customer wants them, and once the contract is signed carry the order through the production survey to the release. Everything hangs off the opportunity, so nothing is raised twice and nothing is lost in messages.
One rule runs through the whole path. The panel raises the work and reads its state; the measuring, the approval and the quotation built from the survey belong to the technical office, and the articles for those screens are linked where the path meets them.

One recording of this entire journey, start to finish — it covers every step below, and walks through worked examples that the individual articles do not each show on their own.
By the end you will be able to
- Pin the site on the opportunity so every request and survey carries the coordinates
- Schedule a pre-quote survey from the Survey Status tab and brief it with a type, a deadline and a task brief
- Read the phase bar, the survey state cards and the suggested next step, and know which request the panel follows
- Raise drawing, fabrication or other technical requests without disturbing the survey
- Open the pre-quote survey and read what the surveyor measured
- Schedule the production survey from the confirmed order and release to production once it is approved
- Review the survey history before asking for another visit
Before you start
- An opportunity with its customer set, and access to CRM and Sales
- The Survey User access right, which the survey buttons on the panel need
- The technical office set up with its request types and stages
The path
Ask for the survey
- 02 Schedule the pre-quote survey and brief it On the Survey Status tab press Schedule Pre-Quote. The dialog opens on the site-survey type; set the Deadline Date, write in the Task Brief what the surveyor must verify, read the guidance and press Create Technical Request. A draft pre-quote survey opens; go back and read the panel: phase Pre-Quote Survey, the Pre-Quote card on draft, the suggested step Start Measuring. The article explains every block of the panel and every field of the dialog. 13 min Request site surveys and technical work from an opportunity or an order
- 03 Ask for drawings, fabrication or anything else Press New Technical Request for anything beyond the survey: a Quote/Drawing request when measurements already exist, a Fabrication Request, or Other Request with a clear brief. Each request stands on its own, and the panel follows the newest one, so open the earlier survey request from View All Requests when you need it. The article covers the request record, its queue and its stages. 9 min Raise, assign and track technical requests
After the contract is signed
- 05 Find the same panel on the quotation and the order Open the quotation from Sales: its Survey Status tab shows the same panel, bound to the request the quotation was built from. Once the customer signs and the order is confirmed, the phase reads Won and the suggested step is Schedule Production Survey. The article walks the confirmed order form, what Confirm changed, and where the factory release really happens. 17 min Work a confirmed sales order: what Confirm changed and what you can still edit
- 06 Schedule the production survey, then release Press Schedule Production Survey on the order, or on the opportunity, which asks which order when several are confirmed. The production survey loads one item per ordered line and the surveyor measures the openings as built; Open Production Survey shows which items are done and which still hold the order back. When the Production card reads approved, press Release to Production. The article explains the production form, the item screen and what approval changes. 29 min Record a production site survey
- 07 Check the survey history before another visit Press View All Previous Surveys. Every survey ever done for the request is listed with its reference, surveyor, date, item counts and state, and the reference prefix tells the type. Read it before asking for a new visit or a new pre-quote for an addition, and use New Pre-Quote only when the extra openings genuinely need measuring. 13 min Request site surveys and technical work from an opportunity or an order
