12- Setup Your Documents and Printed Output

The paper the job actually runs on: elevation diagrams and cutting plans for the floor, bilingual dossiers for the consultant, and compliant tax invoices for the auditor.

Start the journey

In fenestration the documents are not an afterthought — they are how the work is transmitted. A cutting plan is an instruction to a saw. An elevation diagram is what a foreman holds on a scaffold. A stamped submittal is what a consultant approves before anything is fabricated. Get these wrong and the rest of the system is invisible to the people doing the work.

This is the shortest path in the series and the most immediately useful: four steps, each producing a document you can print today and hand to somebody. Run it against a real order rather than a sample, because the gaps only show on a drawing of a real opening.

By the end you will be able to

  • Print the production pack the floor works from: 1:1 elevation diagrams, barcode travellers, profile and glass cutting plans
  • Issue bilingual PDF quotations that carry the CAD drawing, the survey report and the delivery slip
  • Produce compliant electronic tax invoices, BOQ progress certificates and employee badges
  • Put your own branding, paper size and layout behind every one of them
  • Know which document to reach for at each stage, and who is expecting it

Before you start

  • Administrator rights and the Documents module installed
  • A confirmed production order with its cut optimisation calculated — "6- Setup Production and the Factory"
  • A quotation with a design on it, and a completed site survey to attach — journeys 4 and 9
  • Your company branding, logo and tax registration details, plus a sample of the document each consultant or authority expects from you
