Why this step

Keep working. A banner tells you the app is offline and how many changes are held on the phone; nothing is lost and nothing needs re-typing. When you walk back into coverage they go up on their own, in the order you made them. The only thing that waits is the pass-or-fail verdict, which the server decides — it shows as pending sync rather than guessing at an answer that might be wrong.
