Design your first window

Add the decoration bars

Why this step

Grilles and lattice are drawn on the glass panel itself, not bolted on afterwards. This is where a design starts looking like the thing the customer asked for.

What this does

Adds glazing bars — Georgian, colonial or lattice patterns — inside a glass panel, so the drawing, the price and the shop paperwork all agree on a decorative element that is easy to forget.

Steps

Important

Decoration bars belong to the glass panel, not to the frame. A bar added to one sash does not repeat across the others — set them per panel, and check the drawing before sending the quotation.

  1. 01
Open the design and select the glass panel to decorate.
  2. 02
    Choose the bar pattern.
  3. 03
Set the divisions — how many horizontal and vertical bars.
  4. 04
Set the bar profile and finish to match the frame.
  5. 05
    Save, then Analyze Design.
  6. 06
Check that each bar appears with its own length and Bar Serial in the analysis.

Common mistakes

  • Showing bars on the customer's drawing that never reached the analysis, so the factory builds plain glass.
  • Decorating the fixed light and forgetting the matching sash, so the elevation looks wrong once installed.
  • Choosing a bar finish that does not match the frame powder coat.

Checkpoint

The decoration pattern appears on the drawing and carries through to the cut list.
