Measure the building
Run the pre-quote and production surveys
Why this step
Two surveys, deliberately: the pre-quote survey prices the job, the production survey releases material to the saw. The second is approved before anything is cut, because a wrong measurement approved here is aluminium on the floor.
What this does
Conducts high-precision on-site laser surveys of architectural window openings, distinguishing between preliminary pre-quote surveys and verified final production manufacturing surveys.
Before you start
- Sales opportunity created or contract confirmed requiring site measurement.
Steps

Important
In Production Surveys, always measure window openings at 3 width points (Top, Middle, Bottom) and 3 height points (Left, Center, Right), adopting the minimum dimension minus clearance deduction.
-
01
Navigate to Technical Tasks › Site Surveys › Surveys.
-
02
Choose between Pre-Quote Surveys (for sales estimation) and Production Surveys (for factory fabrication release).
-
03
Open any survey form to input opening height, width, diagonal squareness check, sill level, and plaster thickness tolerances.
-
04
Review Pending Approval to verify surveyor laser readings before releasing dimensions to CAD engineering.
-
05
Use the Survey Calendar to dispatch mobile surveying technicians.
Common mistakes
- Releasing cutting lists to the factory based on Pre-Quote rough survey estimates before civil plaster finishing.
- Omitting diagonal measurements, leading to rhomboid parallelogram frames that jam inside out-of-square masonry openings.
Checkpoint
A production survey requires an approval before it can release openings to manufacturing.
